BODY OF WORK: OLD MASTERS, 2018 (work in progress)

Reverence for the so-called "Old Masters" is often nothing more than museum-bound petrification—a canonized veil of yellowed varnish and unquestioned devotion. This series continues the surgical dissection of classical visual worlds: the sacrosanct motifs are not reverently reproduced, but ruthlessly wrenched from their sublime context and stripped of their auratic inviolability.

Work note, Vienna, 2018:
Continuation of the deconstructive method from the Rubens series: deliberate extraction of art-historical image fragments, confrontation with atypical acid and signal colors, as well as graphic interventions. An open-ended experimental arrangement to sabotage canonized viewing habits.
