BODY OF WORK: PACIFISM, 2014
Pacifism describes an ethical stance that fundamentally rejects war and strives to prevent armed conflict. Yet in social reality, this aspiration often remains a cultural illusion: peace orders are historically and structurally bound to power, violence, and its legitimation.
This work attempts to gather motifs from personal everyday reality and question them against this contradiction. Reflexive photography allows for a high degree of contingency rather than reproducing a predetermined order. What appears to be a subjective choice emerges as an expression of social habitus – revealing class-specific and aesthetic patterns of perception.
“Pacifism is a cultural illusion!”

Work note, Vienna 2015
What function do tools of violence serve in everyday consciousness? Isolating these objects against white backgrounds and theatrical staging extracts the cleaver and blades from mere utility. They solidify into relic-like signs that expose the fragility between peace rhetoric and material threat.
