WERKREIHE: REALITÄT 5.5, 2020
The series addresses irrationality, relevance, and escapism as states of consciousness. The latter primarily signifies a refusal of societal goals and behavior patterns. Echoing Peter Handke’s understanding of the utopian in art, it is radical detachment from reality that first enables its transformation: stepping out becomes a mode of resistance against social, political, and media constraints.
The work deliberately confronts contemporary sensory overflow. In an environment shaped by mediated mass distraction, the photography relies on deliberate blur and stark contrasts. What is seen remains merely hinted at; minimal contours delineate world and life events schematically without dictating concrete interpretations.
“Where sharpness fades, reflection begins.”

Work note, Vienna 2020:
How much information does an image require to still testify to reality? Through the radical dissolution of details, the subject escapes its media commodification. What remains is pure schema – a void that throws the viewer back onto the construction of their own perception.
